DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK!!!

Really, please don't. Where did I go? Where was I to begin with? Do YOU remember me? Well if my marketing and consistency have anything to do with it, you should NOT know me. Now you are here and I thank you. So before I get weird, stick around and let me show you what I was too scared to commit to. I don't know why, it's not rocket science.

But to an overthinker, a restaurant choice could turn into rocket science so please  join me in giving me grace. Who is me? K! as in KāBā SHEA! I know you want to say cah bah shay but say it like this and feel how smooth it is: "KAY" - "BAY" -  "SHAY". It literally rhymes with HEY HEY HEY!!

My government name is Kailyn Baker. Some people have added unnecessary consonants in the pronunciation of my name (ex: KATE LYNN. I be looking around trying to see where Katelynn is but they are always talking to me ). To make things more simple and me allegedly more cool, my nickname is "K". At this point I think you can fill in the rest of the dots as to how the name "KāBā Shea" was derived from a person named Kailyn Baker who makes stuff with shea butter.

That's the origin story of my NAME. But why make the stuff in the first place? Ashy.

I'm not calling you ashy, I am answering my own question. It was the ash. I have always been a pervasively ashy person. As a chocolate brown girl, dry skin is unforgiving. I believe the term "dry snitch" derives from the concept of how ash will tell on you. I have been there PLENTY of times. I'm out socializing, my legs are out and I think I am TOO CUTE! I probably lubed up thoroughly before I left the house but I've been dancing, sitting down, eating, riding in the car and keeping my skirt pulled down all night. Some of that lube has rubbed off, soaked in and DISAPPEARED. And in its absence is a scaly patch of skin that looks like lotion never touched it. For me, it's the shin and below that tells on me. For other people it's their heels and elbows, some folks it's their back. No matter how cute you think you are, that ash spot will jump out at you like SURPRISE! YOU ARE ASHY! And then everyone knows. Now THAT'S  a dry snitch.

To try to avoid all of this I have been experimenting with different products and combinations to keep my skin supple and shiny without being greasy and sticky. One day my grandma and I are having a conversation about dry skin and she pulls out some raw shea butter she had and mixed it up with some other oils she had in the house. She created a rich and creamy body butter out of what she had in her cabinets! 

I started doing research immediately and before you knew it I was buying bulk oils and butters off of Amazon and started whipping things up. Lavish Whipped Body Butter was born! I let a friend use some who let her friend use some, who let her pregnant daughter use some! And that lady loved Lavish! I ended up having to make some more, because she took it from my homegirl! And that was how the first product for KāBā Shea came about - me and my grandma talking about being ashy.

That’s the short version to the introduction of a story that is still being written. KāBā Shea was created for a few reasons:

1. Find natural solutions to dry skin problems.

2. Find more affordable ways to nourish our skin

3. Use a made-from-scratch approach to self-care

4. Develop a skill that can serve others

5. STOP DRY SNITCHING

In addition to telling you more about the KāBā Shea journey, I MUST to talk about some of the other brands that have inspired, entertained, and nourished me as well. There is enough ash to tackle in the world, we can all shine together!

Now, I intend on finding my own tagline and sayings but I didn’t make it that far yet. So for now, In the words of the illustrious Tabitha Brown "That's it, that's all".
